Smurf Christmas Gift Ideas

If you are looking for Smurfs for a Christmas gift then here are some ideas.

If you are buying for children then it is best to keep to the current ranges, these Smurfs are the cheapest.

Click here for normal smurfs from the current range, these are all priced at £2.20 each.

Click here for Smurf Smurfs (boxed Smurfs) from the current range, these are all priced at £3.25 each.

A nice combination for a child is Papa Smurf, Smurfette, Gargamel, Azrael, perhaps a Smurf Cottage and maybe one of the Smurf playsets, the Smurfette’s Bedroom or Gargamel’s Lab are popular choices. Alternatively you can purchase the set of 2005 Smurfs which includes the main 8 Smurf characters at a discounted price.

If you are buying for someone who is just getting into collecting then one of our recommended buys is the Der Schlumpf Katalog which costs just £12.99 and you can purchase it here.

Another special item for the collector is the Marching Band set, 12 Smurf figures for £29.99. This set is now in short supply and values are starting to increase.

We have a few different Fix & Foxi Smurfs for sale and if you don’t like the look of the ones shown in the shop then please email us and we will advise current prices on smurfs in differing condition.

We also have a good range of rare playsets and buildings in stock at the moment. We have just four of the Old Farmhouse left in stock. We cannot offer a competitive shipping rate on this item for overseas orders but if you are prepared to pay extra for shipping then we can ship overseas but the cost is quite dear. The aforementioned rare playsets are the Astro set and the Western set and Gargamel’s Lab in the old style boxes, although we have just one left of the old Western set now.

Please note that overseas orders required for Christmas gifts need to be placed fairly soon.

If you are ordering from outside of the UK and want your item in time for Christmas then please place your orders by the following dates: -

7 December 2005 South & Central America, Caribbean, Africa, Middle East, Asia, Far East, New Zealand and Australia
10 December 2005 Japan, USA, Canada and Eastern Europe
12 December 2005 Western Europe

Finally please bear in mind that the following Smurf figurines are being discontinued at the end of 2005 so prices will increase from January 2006. If you don’t have these figures in your collection then it makes sense to buy them before the end of the year.

20104 Pirate
20471 Carpenter
20517 Hippy
20520 Techno
20464 Swot
20474 Adventurer
20519 Hip hop
20523 Show Off

Smurf Domain Names

The fact that you can’t use the word Smurf in a domain name is in the news again due to the WebSmurfer website now being targetted by IMPS, who control the rights to the Smurf name.

For many people this is old news, many people have had to rename their websites some years ago when they were threatened with legal action over the use of the word “smurf” in the domain name. It is obviously upsetting when a lot of effort has been put into a website but it is no different to any other company with a trademark or brandname. You can’t put LEGO® in a domain name either and LEGO® have a very good page here explaining the ins and outs of their problems with trademark infringement.

My thinking is that we are all disgusted about the amount of fake smurfs about and we complain when we buy smurfs that we believe to be genuine only to find them to be poor copies. It may seem that IMPS are playing the “big bad wolf” in all this but I would rather see them trying to protect their rights, because this hopefully means they are also weedling out all the Smurf cowboys out there, and I don’t mean the little brown ones with a rope. I mean those people reproducing smurf en masse and ripping innocent buyers off. These fraudulent sellers are driving down the prices of rare smurfs because people don’t always trust that rare figurines are real anymore.

It’s my opinion that IMPS are simply preparing the groundwork before the Smurf Movie comes along in 2008. It’s been very tough on website owners in the past when they had to change domain names, but now the deed is done let’s all play by the same rules. It’s a little amusing when it is anything to do with smurfs and people start shouting “Oh how unsmurfy!” Smurfs are business just like any other tradename. You can’t use Epson in a domain name and as mentioned before you can’t use LEGO® in a domain name. People don’t run around saying “Oh how unLEGO®-ey!” Do they? :-)
