UK National Garages in the late 1970s, do you know someone who worked in one?

I am trying to find out information about the Smurfs when they were sold in the National Garages in the UK in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The people who would remember them best would probably be those who worked in the National Garages or worked for the National Benzole Marketing Department. I am interested in finding old smurf literature from the National Garages, and also I would like to know what people remember about the smurf lead paint scare. If anyone can help with information please post a comment on this blog.

Thank you.

2006 Smurfs flying out of the door

I think I can report the new Halloween Smurfs as a resounding success. The quality of these smurfs is excellent, I complained about the paint quality of last year’s smurfs and was told I couldn’t expect too much as they were marketed as a toy and not a collector’s item. This year however, I have absolutely no complaints. These smurfs are far superior to ones I have seen in recent years, they are original, well painted and will appeal to more people than just the die-hard collectors. The only smurf I can compare these to quality-wise is probably the monk, there are some really beautiful pieces, the Grim Reaper Smurf being my favourite, it must sound odd calling the Grim Reaper beautiful but he really is!
2006 Smurfs - the Halloween theme
As far as I am concerned Schleich can give themselves a well deserved pat on the back for coming up with such a fantastic smurf line-up! It seems the Smurfs are getting a complete makeover what with being blown up by Unicef at the end of last year, now this must be the Smurfs Revenge!
