Unicef bombs the Smurfs
A shocking new campaign advertisement has been created by Unicef with the message “Don’t let war affect the lives of children.” The story has been picked up by many news websites and it has the approval of the late Peyo’s family, Peyo was the creator of the Smurfs.
It is so disturbing that IMPS have stipulated that it mustn’t be broadcast before the 9pm watershed.
As the short film opens you see the Smurf Village, much loved by children of the past few decades and still loved by the children of today. Smurfs are singing and dancing, the very essence of all things good, when suddenly bombs begin to fall from the sky. The Smurfs try to run away from the bombs as they explode all around them, but they cannot get away. The scene closes with Baby Smurf, alone, and sobbing inconsolably.

Addition: Well it seems that everyone is now talking about Unicef bombing the smurfs
Quote “We wanted something that was real war - Smurfs losing arms, or a Smurf losing a head -but they said no.” Personally I am glad that they didn’t go for overkill (pardon the pun!), I think they’ve done enough damage to the Smurf Village to scar some of those poor Belgian children for life anyway! Smurfs have really been a figure of fun in the UK over the past couple of decades, people make jokes about smurfs in television comedy, nobody takes them seriously! (Except for a small corner of society which is the world’s best kept secret that is!) But we have to remember that Smurfs are a bit of a national treasure in Belgium, many people think Smurfs are German or even American! But Smurfs are Belgian, Smurfs have always been Belgian! And in 2008 they will celebrate their 50th anniversary (unless Unicef get their way that is!). In 2008 a Smurf Movie is planned, well not just one, a trilogy in fact! So let’s hope Paramount are a little more caring towards our little blue friends… And let’s hope Baby Smurf does a Pamela Ewing and wakes up to find it was all just a bad dream!

United Nations blows-up Papa Smurf as weeping children watch
What Moonage Daydream calls “the dumbest idea the UN has ever conceived. Traumatizing kids so that they won’t be traumatized by something else.” Moon quotes the Sunday Mail:
CHILDREN’S favourite Smurfs are wiped out in a gru…

When someone do anything that have some chance to help the future owners of the earth to grow up being scared of and hating the war that, for shure, is a pretty good big thing.

Pretty good idea! It´s a good way too show the new generations the atrocities 1st world countries (a.a.w.k. Uncle Sam) inflict on defenseless population. As someone said above, it must be broadcasted over the States.

Children everywhere should be taught at an early age that life is not ‘pink’ for every child in the world. This approach keeps children in touch with reality (global reality that is) and it promotes awareness. Maybe it even inspires some to do something about it when they’re old enough to be able to. I don’t see any harm in this, except maybe exposing the indifference of world powers to issues that are critical, yet fully ignored!

Refinance Your Mortgage Loan After Bankruptcy
